An is a creative engaged designer working on smaller-scale architecture projects alone and in collaboration. In addition, An also does illustrative work and is a passionate sculptor.

In her designs, An tries to create a balance between beauty, respect for the existing context and the use of sustainable elements.

She graduated as an architect from the Henry van de Velde Institute (now UAntwerpen) and then obtained a postgraduate degree in architecture and urban planning from the Royal University College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Stockholm.

In recent years, An has worked in larger offices in Antwerp. She worked at B-architects and Stramien architectuur & ruimte CV. Before this experience in Antwerp, she was active in several offices in Stockholm where she lived and worked for five years.
Today she designs and builds smaller projects alone or in collaboration with Leen de Brabandere and murmuur architects. For more projects, see www.DAUWCollectief.eu.

In addition to her professional career as an architect, An has been active at the University of Antwerp since 2017 where she teaches (assistant professor) in the first year of architecture. She also provides academic support to students.

Furthermore, An is also very passionate about creating illustrations for children’s books, poetry collections, making cards and posters.

Also, a big piece of An’s heart lies in making poetic sculptures that always tell stories about life, love, relationship, sorrow and connections. These sculptures are made in clay, stone and wood.
