Conversion of a charming house from 1932 located just outside the centre of Lier.

The house is mainly oriented east (street facade) – west (garden facade) and consists of two floors, a small back extension, a basement and a charming garden.

Our main principles in the design process are transparency, light and greenery. We would like to reopen the west-facing facade of the house and include the garden in the house both on the ground floor and on the first floor. We believe that the garden is a precious buffer in summer and can be an extra room to enrich the house and increase the livability in the city.

We would like to further explore how we can sustainably enhance the house (through materials, techniques, shading, plantings,…) and transform it into a nice and warm “home”.
